So I can hardly ever sleep, some people call it insomnia, but id like to call it something else. See I think insomnia is for people who genuinely can't get enogh sleep for whatever reason. Then your cycle gets thrown off course even more because you suddenly and randomly crash whenever your body just can't take is anymore. That is always the best sleep an insomnia, or a person who suffers from insomnia gets. How you get thrown off course even worse is when you take a nap in the middle of the day or before your normal bedtime hours are. That will throw you off course significantly. Infact I believed I suffered from that and went to see a doctor. The advice I got from him was crucial, he basically said garry, do not take a nap during the day. No matter how sleepy you are stay awake until what your normal bedtimes hours would be, and if you go to sleep and find your self waking up too early then you need to adjust to time it correctly.
I think the term insomnia is more commonly used now then in the past and the reason being is the country is in a despression and with bills mounting and the pressure of the lack of money and so on it makes people tense and jumpy, aka not being able to get a full nights rest. I know this because of I too was going through several rough spells of sleepless nights and no appetite
So with that said I beleieve now that I do not have insomnia which isn't as bad as it sounds, however what I suffer from is not being able to sleep with so much on my mindomnia. With the taks and dedication it takes for a start up company and the risk and rewards of failure or complete and total wealthness, the drive is intense. I truely understand why they say you will not began to break even or even make a profit for the first 3 years of starting a company. Office supplies, building your brand, and learning how to build that brand, the ever technology increasing tech and sites and blogs, and sales, advertising and marketing and so much more.
I truely believe I now know the difference between a mom and pop store, and a company that may not be say a microsoft but an agressive company looking to expand and grow and not going anywhere anytime soon.
The difference you ask.....well ill tell you. So many people in business focus on just the task at hand...they look down and don't lookup to see what's going on in front of them. And that is sooooo key. You need to constantly know and be able to predict what the market, economy, and trends in your field are doing and is going to do in the future. For example. You and your wife own a hollywood video franchise. Each day your main focus is this hollywood video, you make sure the workers are there and things are being done on the day to day basis and so on. Not paying attention to the market around them, they didn't realize what a huge impact say movies on demand would have on them, or the movie vending machines that have just about plopped up in every grocery store and beyond at it seems nowadays.
Or even worse what about the no late fee movie rental thing they have going on now where you pay a fairly inexpensive fee monthly and pick what movies you want and they ll be delivered in about one business day.
The point I'm trying to make is technology is ever increasing and making things, products and businesses change. If you are in an industry its very important for you even as an employee to know the market and be able to see the trend, the curve and ride that curve because your life depoends on it. The true savy, successful businessman is agile and travels light. They are not very knowledgable in just one specific field how ever they are somewhat knowledgeable in many....all fields that have to do with the industry they are in and what pertains to that indusrty and I'm sure knowledgeable in what passions that make them tick....after all all work and no play is just not right.
The days of word of the mouth business are almost history, we live in the now generation, we want everything now and so does your consumer. So you need to have your business advertised everywhere your competition is and everywhere you think might help your business...
So I hope this is something helpful to an aspiring business owenr and may you have all the luck in the world on your next startup....cheers to you
